Carpe Diem Racing

Welcome to the 2008 Bethel Spring Series!

Cat 5s - all contenders will be put into the second race.  Please pre-reg if you intend to compete for the overall.  Based on number of pre-reg Cat 5s, we will limit the number of riders from one team to FIVE (5) total riders.

Once again you can start off your year of racing by racing at a friendly and fun race.  We have two big changes to announce for this year:

1. PUBLISHED START TIMES! It took us (me) 15 years to figure out that it makes life easier for the racer.  My apologies for taking this long to learn this very simple fact, and thanks to a couple individuals who brought this to my attention in a friendly and empathetic manner (not just complaining endlessly in an unconstructive manner).   See FAQ for start times.

2.  The addition of another race each week.  This is the second year where the Women's race will be a standalone race.

3.  Verge Sport has returned to the fold and provided us with bright new Leader's Jerseys.  As usual, the jerseys are loaned out to the current weekly leader and at an awards ceremony on the last week, the overall winners will be able to permanently receive their Leaders Jersey.

Marshals needed for the races!  Work the races you can for a day and get free entry.  This gives you time to marshal and race!

The new building on the corner with the immaculate parking lot and seedlings in the ground will be off limits to the racers and their vehicles (both 2 and 4 wheeled).  We want to start off on the right foot with the building's owners so please stay off their property.

We will once again hold separate weekly events with a separate USCF Permit number for each week.  This has allowed us to increase the prize money we can advertise and will help you with your USCF rankings in the state and overall.  When possible we report the top 10 finishing places to the USCF.

Per usual, online registration is available at BikeReg.  Due to racers who sweep, marshal, etc., we do not make the list of racers available on BikeReg.  This is so we do not mislead anyone as to who will not be at the race.

Overall leaders will be tracked for the following categories:
1.  Category 5
2.  Category 4
3.  Juniors
4.  Womens
5.  Masters 40+
6.  Category 3-4
7.  Category Pro-1-2-3

Overall rankings are determined by Series Points awarded each week:
First Place: 7 Series Points
Second Place: 5 Series Points
Third Place: 4 Series Points
Fourth Place: 3 Series Points
Fifth Place: 2 Series Points
Sixth Place: 1 Series Point

On the last week, the winner of the race will be awarded 10 Series Points, with second place at 7 Series points, down to seventh place with 1 Series Point.

Best teams will be tracked for:
1.  Category 4
2.  Masters 40+
3.  Category 3-4
4.  Category Pro-1-2-3
Team rankings are calculated by using the top three team members' Series Points total in the overall standings.  This is not the top 3 each race, it is the top three on GC.

This year unattached racers will NOT be counted in team GC, nor will their unattached points be counted if they join a team partway through the Series.
