With a weather-reduced field lining up for the hard, Benelux like conditions, the Cat 5s promised to be a hard race. The field didn't disappoint, with searing attacks coming from the gun. Navone Studios, intent on hardening up the race, sent their riders on attack after attack. With only a few laps to go they managed to pull a CSC and got three riders off the front.

Unable to overcome the strong winds, and with a small and stable gap, the break couldn't snap the elastic. After a few laps of freedom the field hauled them back, chased mainly by Bethel Cycle riders.

The front started splintering under constant attacks, but at the bell the field rolled through together.

Sam Rosenholtz (Green Line Velo) pulled a great sprint out of his pocket to win clear of the field. Navone Studio's riders filled the next three spots, with Edinilson Da Silva, Gercy Barboza De Morass, and Jefferson Lima finishing in that order. Gabriel Remillard finished fifth, and Jim Klewicki took the last points spot in sixth.

Hoowee, that was a tight one. A four man break represented by CVC, Bikeway, Pawling, and Bethel went clear. At the bell the break had a small gap. Behind them, the field, controlled by Bethel Cycle, launched a furious leadout with Bethel team riders Mark Mahoney and Scott Feltmate taking the reins a la Fasso Bortolo. They were working to get their Cat 4 sprinter Denis Adiletti up there for the sprint.

The break came agonizingly close to succeeding, with Robert Kelley (Pawling Cycle) winning the sprint. Adiletti got second, thanks to the huge leadout. He actually passed teammate and breakaway rider Muzzio in the sprint. Benjamin George (CVC/Subaru New England) finished fourth, and Bikeway's Justin Harris got fifth. The second field finisher and the yellow jersey wearer, Darius Shekari (CRCA/TeaNY), took sixth and the final Series point.

"Team Mullaly", CVC/Subaru New England racers Katie, Kelsea, and Laura, all launched attacks as well. Edwards ended up on a long solo move, trying to entice others to join her, but after a good 10 lap effort, she returned to the fold.

Towards the end of the race Edwards attacked again, but with the unexpected result of launching Xieyue Fan (CRCA/Houlihan Lokey/Sanchez) off the front. Fan ended up winning solo, with Edwards taking the field sprint for second. Amanda Braverman (Stage 1/Fusion Think) took third, with Bethel Cycle's Rebecca Hussey in fourth. He did, too, winning his second race here this year. John Funk (Cycle Fitness) took second in this hardman's sprint, with long time Bethel veteran Jim Escobar (The Simple Principles) taking third. Bethel Cycle's Rich Foley finished fourth, with Joe Straub (Westwood Velo) in fifth. Brian Wolf (Team Rockstar Games/Signature Cycles) rounded out the points winners.

The 3-4 race promised to be a humdinger of a race, with Bethel Cycle and Expo Wheelmen lining up with considerable numbers. With no apparent leader lined up, the race seemed wide open. Both teams sent riders banging off the front, but it seemed apparent Expo wanted to keep things together. Bethel seemed more willing to send riders off the front.

After a lot of short lived moves, the race came down to a field sprint. With Expo's magazine running empty, Bethel put two riders at the front with their sprinter on the wheel. A big surge disrupted the leadout, and out of the fracas Bryan Haas (CCC/IRS Medic) won a clear sprint. Evan Thomas (Bethel Cycle) took second in a tight bike throw for second, edging out Aki Sato (Expo Wheelmen). Laurence Merling (TG Racing/Bianchi USA) took fourth, with the area's favorite Germanic racer Guido Wollmann in fifth. Chad Dalles (Central CT Cycling Club) rounded out the points winners.

Yep, another hard race on a hard day. The normal shelling out process, dragged on for quite a bit, popped out a five man break. CCNS, active in an organized fashion, got their man Ryan Serbel in the break, and he capped off a good day with a win. Second was the fiercely competitive "Iron" Mike McGinley (Central CT Cycling Club). Third was, most appropriately, Amos Brumble (CCB Wheelworks), who happened to have spent a bunch of time racing in... Belgium. Ed Angeli (Target Training) took fourth, with CRCA's Peter Hurst rounding out the break. Anthony Alessio (Stage 1/Fusion Think) led in the field sprint for sixth.

Note: since we only paid 5 places, Iron Mike shared some of his prize money with fellow sprinter Anthony. Now there's sportsmanship.
