Sorry, been playing parking marshal. Cat 5 races are done, results up shortly.
Yay! Results.
The new format will be the race report with the results listed below the report. This is how all the big boys do it so I'll copy the format.
Break in the first race, Sean Smith motored away and won a nice clean win with no one else in the picture. A little tumble in the field sprint messed things up for some but Andrew Payne (Bethel Cycle) won the sprint for second. Blaine Hurty (someone sign him up!) got third, with Gary Quinlin (ditto!) in fourth. Tarmac Cycling got fifth with Christopher Deluco. Scott Prosser (another solo racer) got sixth and a point for the overall.

Second Cat 5 race ended in a field sprint, despite the efforts of the Navone Studios boys to break up the field. Ace Cat 5 field sprinter Sam Rosenholtz (Green Line Velo) took yet another field sprint win. Navone Studios swept the next three places with Edinilson Da Silva, Gercy Barboza De Morass, and Jefferson Lima taking second through fourth in that order. Hans Morefield took an excellent fifth (someone sign this guy up!). Tarmac Cycling took the next three spots in some good teamwork with Gregory Dorsch taking the sixth and final points spot.

10:01 AM Cat 4 race... Bell lap, two man break!
10:59 AM Never believe what you read on the internet. FOUR man break, shattered when the winner attacked and went on his own. The break straggled across the line, with the field close behind. Results and such as soon as I get the names here.
3:30 PM I hate Dell laptop touch pads. They don't work, keep having to alt-tab into another application, then return. Otherwise the cursor just drifts all over the place.
So, anyway Justin Harris (Bikeway) did the big solo and finished at a crawl, clear of his break companions. Bill Muzzio (Bethel Cycle) took second, with Robert Kelley (Pawling Cycle and Sport) just behind in third. The fourth member of the break and a favorite of the registration girls, Eugene Doherty (Team DC Racing) took a well cheered fourth. Denis Adiletti (Bethel Cycle Sport) won the field sprint for fifth. Reid Evans (Pawling Cycle and Sport) took the final points spot for sixth.
I should note that this was quite a day for Bill Muzzio. It was his birthday, he raced well, and his number was.... 411. Beat that. We should read about him winning the lottery or something.

Rumor has it that Carl Reglar (Team Danbury Audi/Pedal and Pump) had a less than great Battenkill (he flatted). He took out his disappointment on the field by attacking at the gun.
Incredibly, although two riders almost bridged, Reglar battled the constantly changing gusty winds and stayed away for the whole race. Solo.
Props.
Behind him, the overall Leader John Funk (Cycle Fitness) tried chasing, but heavily marked, he throttled back. Ultimately the race for second came down to a field sprint. Rick Spear (Target Training) took the sprint and second place. Brian Wolf (Team Rockstar Games/Signature Cycles) finished third. Jim Escobar (The Simple Principles), a GC threat, finished third in the sprint for fourth place. Funk took fifth, with Greg Pelican (Bethel Cycle Sport) taking a point for sixth.

A 16 rider group went clear of the field. With the overall leader Bryan Haas (IRSMedic) content in the lead, with only one overall threat Aki Sato (Expo/Superior Energy). Up front the group steadily pulled away. Nick Iacovelli (Colavita Racing) took the win, with Laurence Merling (TG Racing/Bianchi USA) in second. James Stevens (BH/Garneau) took third, with Mike Wiles (Zanes Cycles) in fourth. Guido Wollmann finished fifth, with Willie Payton (We Stand United WS) in sixth.

A scorcher of a race. The wind, picking up in intensity, really blew apart the field. Some hard racing helped of course. Another split happened in this race, with a large group going clear. Robert Sweeting (Team Globalbike) took matters in his own hands and launched out of that group and soloed to a powerful win.
Behind, the lead group lapped the "main field" just before the race ended. With the lapped racers pulled in the last lap, the lead group had a nice clean sprint for the remaining places.
Christopher Fisher (Priority Health Cycling Team) took the sprint for second, eeking out Matthew Baldwin (Target Training). Jacob Hacker finished fourth, followed by Greg Olsen (CRCA/Jonathan Adler). John Funk (Cycle Fitness) capped off a good day of racing in sixth.

Overall the day went well. Riders stayed off their bikes in the parking lot around registration, we kept Second Lane clear for the volleyball folks, and the races were safe for the most part. Thanks for coming out and we'll see you next week!
